ABOUT Olyvia
Kent State University, Sophomore
I love my college because…
it’s ranked in the top five for having one of the best fashion programs. Plus, it’s such a big university and I’m surrounded by so many opportunities! Not to mention, there are always awesome events going on and concerts to go to like Flashfest!
I major in…
Fashion Merchandising and minor in Business. After college, I plan on being a buyer for one of my favorite companies like H&M or Zara! Plan B is moving to LA and becoming a personal stylist for an A-lister.
My hometown is awesome because…
being from the small town Orrville, Ohio is bittersweet. I have always loved visiting bigger cities and I know one day I will have my very own studio apartment in the middle of one! On the other hand, I will forever have a soft spot for my hometown because it was the perfect place to grow up in and make childhood memories. The community is really close-knit and everyone is there for one another. Whenever I need to get away from the stress of being a college student, I come home to the slow-paced way of life and breathe. You could say Orrville, Ohio is my serenity.
At school, you can find me…
as a member of the Fashion Student Organization on campus, where I am busy with volunteering/styling for fashion shows and going to weekly meetings to learn new fashion trends and network with others in the fashion industry. I am also I am a brother of the co-ed business/professional fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi. Being involved in college is very important to me!
The coolest class I’ve taken so far is…
Fashion Visuals. The class teaches what goes on behind the scenes of the fashion industry, from making garments/knowing textiles and fabrics to the display/sales of fashion. Fashion Visuals is very hands-on, so I got to show my creative side by making mood/trend boards of fashion companies!
My ideal first date would be…
well, breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, being the coffee addict that I am! So of course, my perfect first date would start off at a diner followed by anything for us to really get to know one another, like relaxing at a local concert outside or even spending the day in one of my favorite places – Cleveland!
My favorite late night study snack is definitely…
coffee and Brookeside chocolate… or anything sweet! I have a tremendous sweet tooth!
If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…
spend my last day like any ordinary day, except I would insist on enjoying the simple things that I usually take for granted. Having family and friends is what really matters at the end of the day, so I wouldn’t want anything other than their love!
If my high school self could talk to me now, she would say…
“Why didn’t this happen earlier?!” Being in college really made me come out of my box. Living a different lifestyle certainly lets you see who you are as a person and who you want to become. Going to Kent State is the best thing that has ever happened to me; I am more open to experience different things!
I’m going to be Miss COED 2017 because…
I love being a role model to girls of all ages. I know I wouldn’t be the same person I am today without the women I idolized and look up to now. Being Miss COED 2017 means making great life decisions in order to better oneself and others, as well as being confident, strong, and overall savvy. I consider myself able to inspire others to believe in themselves and be a great fit for Miss COED 2017!
