University of Akron, Freshman

I love my school because…

when I first visited, it felt like home to me. I grew up in a small town and have always dreamed of living in a city. Akron is not too big and not too small. The university is downtown, but I am just a short drive away to the countryside, and a short drive away from Cleveland! I am also a cheerleader here, and it gave me the opportunity to live out my dream of being a collegiate cheerleader.

I really hate when…

people chew with their mouth open. It’s really nasty and no one wants to see that!

I major in…

Political Science with a focus in Criminal Justice. Someday I hope to become a criminal profiler for the government!

My hometown is awesome because…

I always loved the small town feel because everyone knows everyone. I am from a small town in West Virginia. The people I went to elementary school with were also the people I graduated with, and we stayed friends through all of those years.

The coolest class I’ve taken so far is…

The Social Effects of Crime in the Media. It is a very difficult course, but since it was my favorite, I loved every second of it!

My ideal first date would be…

to grab some lunch and explore a park! I love being outdoors and my favorite place is the Cuyahoga National Park. There are plenty of places to go hiking, fishing, and enjoying the beautiful scenery all around.

If you had 24 hours left to live, I would…

spend it with my friends and family. They are my world, and I would want to spend every second I could with them.

If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…

the judgement people have towards each other. Stereotypes are created, people say mean things to intentionally hurt others, and judgements are made only on appearance. Like they always say, never judge a book by the cover! You never know if that “weird girl that sits by you in class” could be interested in the same things that you are and you could become friends!

If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, I would say…

to keep going and keep pushing! I am finally where I thought I would be and persevering will only get me where I want to be in 10 years!

I’m going to be Miss COED 2017 because…

I want to serve as a role model to other girls! I want to be able to be looked up to and remembered as a good person to others. A title like this should represent strong, intelligent, and independent young women and I hope to be an advocate of that! It would also be a great opportunity to meet other girls and make more connections!
