ABOUT Megan
Texas Christian University, Sophomore
Why did you choose your school and what makes it better than the rest?
I chose Texas Christian University because offered me the opportunity to have stage time as an underclassman. In fact, this year I was able to be in my first collegiate opera, Suor Angelica, and I had a couple of solos. TCU truly offers me musical opportunities that few universities could offer me as an undergraduate student, let alone a freshman in college.
What kind of activities are you involved in? (sorority, theatre, clubs, etc)
I involved in my sorority, Sigma Kappa, opera studio, and choral activities on campus. I am on the Panhellenic Committee within Sigma Kappa, so I meet with members of other Pahellenic sororities every Wednesday night. In opera studio, we prepare scenes from operas, and we produce a fully-staged opera every year. It takes hours of preparation and hours in class, but every second is worth it. In choir, we are allowed to perform at amazing places in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. This year, we are going all the way to TMEA to perform in the spring.
If you had to choose one social media to use for the year, what would it be and why?
I would definitely use Instagram because it shares snippets of everyone’s lives.
What’s your major/what are you thinking of majoring in?
I am a biology and music double-major, and I am on a pre-health track. I plan on entering the field of larynology, so I can help professionals keep their voices healthy.
Who’s the most famous graduate from your school?
I believe Andy Dalton is the most famous graduate from TCU because he played football for TCU, and he now plays football for the Cincinnati Bengals.
What do you know now that you wish you knew as a freshman?
I wish I knew that mistakes can be beautiful.
Do you have a favorite sports team?
My favorite sports team is the Dallas Mavericks. I am a huge fan of basketball, and nothing makes my Sunday afternoon more exciting than a Mavs game.
Which celebrity would you invite to a dinner party at your house?
If I could invite any celebrity to a dinner party I would invite Anna Moffo. She was an astounding soprano throughout the 1960’s, and she is a role model of mine. She was independent and talented; not to mention, she was a beautiful person inside and out — everything I aspire to be.
