ABOUT Kellen
Central Michigan University, Sophomore
I love my college because….
of the lively campus, hands-on teaching, and the homey feel. Since going here, I’ve never felt more at home. Everyone is so friendly on campus and all excited to have fun. The school spirit goes beyond limitations and the teaching staff is so helpful. I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else.
I really hate when…
people judge a book by its cover. I’ve come to know the most amazing people by never letting looks, race, gender, piercings, tattoos etc. sway my perception of someone. I wish everyone would get to know someone before they gave any opinion on who they are.
I major in…
Therapeutic Recreation, and I plan on pursuing a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
My hometown is awesome because…
I get to be on the lake everyday. We are surrounded by Lake Huron and are also closely connected to Canada by the Blue Water Bridge. Port Huron is also a huge family/community based town so everyone knows everyone and it’s very comforting.
At school, you can find me…
as a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma and IM sports.
My ideal first date would be…
something casual such as coffee shop date. That way no one needs to be nervous and there’s no high expectations. It’s reality.
The coolest class I’ve taken so far is…
Healthy Lifestyles freshman year due to the amazing professor I had. Being in a 300 person lecture, I didn’t think I would get to know my professor or anyone in it, but the professor made it a very hands-on class and I loved it.
My favorite late night study snack is…
roasted almonds.
If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…
spend it with my closest friends and family, talking about all our great memories.
If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…
animal cruelty. I volunteer at Humane Societies at school and at home and also work at a doggy daycare.
If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, I would say…
that there’s no sense in worrying about the little things. Everything will work out how it’s supposed to.
I’m going to be Miss COED 2017 because…
I feel I am a strong representation of Central Michigan University, I’m passionate about my sorority’s philanthropy and would love the opportunity to have a larger network of people to help raise awareness for such a great foundation, March of Dimes.
