ABOUT Jazmine
Louisiana State University, Junior
I love my college because….
of the feeling I got when I first stepped foot on campus. Louisiana State University is like no other. My school has an incredibly beautiful scenery and if you visit on a Saturday you will see the heart of Louisiana. Saturday night game days and tailgating are what everyone lives for. Catching a game in Death Valley should be on your bucket list because it is an exciting and fun experience. LSU is so great because my school is a place for sports and offers the best education. I love the engineering college at LSU. I have received 3 internships, scholarships, and research help through them. Love PURPLE, Live GOLD & GEAUX TIGERS!
I really hate when…
someone bumps into me and does not say excuse me. I’m from the South and respect gets you far in life. So if you bump someone just politely say “excuse me.”
I major in…
Computer Science and my minor is Digital Media Art. After college, I plan to land a job with a Fortune 500 company while going to graduate school for my MBA. My goal is to work as a Project Manager and eventually move up in the chain or even start my own business. I would love to work in the tech, fashion, or media industry.
My hometown is awesome because…
it is a small town and EVERYONE knows everyone in Monroe, Louisiana. I could go to Walmart and see someone that my grandmother knows and they would have a full conversation with me. There is nothing like growing up in a small country town. Everyone is close and has strong support for my town.
At school, you can find me…
being a workaholic! I currently intern while in school. I am also starting research, serve as a community leader, and I am involved in all of the diverse engineering organizations on campus, such as Society of Women Engineers, National Society for Black Engineers, and Women in Computer Science.
The coolest class I’ve taken so far is…
poetry class, which was my favorite class. I love using my creative mind to express myself. In my poetry class, I was able to write journal entries, do community service, and present pieces of poetry. This class opened my eyes to how poetry brings out the inner me and learning more about the art was fascinating.
My ideal first date would be…
NOT be the movies, but it is a place where we can connect and have verbal communication. Formal dinners are always awkward for me, so a night out on the beach around a bonfire is the ideal first date for me. The scene is more relax and I don’t feel like it’s the typical date.
If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…
take all of my money out of my savings and my family and I would go to an island. We would go zip lining, bungee jumping, eat tons of food and just live it up. I want to be happy and want the people I love around me.
If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…
the hatred in people’s heart. Hate has corrupted this world and has even hit my state with the killings of citizens and police in Baton Rouge. My heart cries out for this world and I don’t know the answers to the hatred that society has, but that is one thing I would love to change.
I’m going to be Miss COED 2017 because…
being Miss COED is an amazing accomplishment. I admire what Miss COED is doing by giving young women a chance to feel special and adored. I would love to be given an opportunity to rock the title of Miss COED! It is an amazing platform that I can use to inspire other young girls to be confident and go for it!
