Indiana University – Bloomington, Sophomore
Why did you choose your school and what makes it better than the rest?
I chose my school for a few reasons. For one, I knew that it had great programs for the majors I wanted to pursue. Second, the moment I stepped onto campus I immediately fell in love. I think it is absolutely gorgeous and I love how large it is. I love all the opportunities that I have and I’m just a sophomore, it’s genuinely amazing. Finally, I chose IU because I had family that attended the university so I’ve been a dedicated Hoosier fan for the past 10+ years.
What kind of activities are you involved in? (sorority, theatre, clubs, etc)
I was president of a community outreach council my freshman year and absolutely loved it! It actually inspired me to pick up a minor in Non-Profit Management. This upcoming year I have every intention of getting involved with the public relations section of Union Board and rush a sorority.
If you had to choose one social media to use for the year, what would it be and why?
I would pick instagram, for sure. I love photography and seeing all the cool places my friends are going to. Also, there’s always a few puppy pictures and I’m a huge dog lover.
What’s your major/what are you thinking of majoring in?
My current majors are Journalism and Public Relations. I’m also minoring in Non-Profit Management and considering picking up another minor in political science, if possible.
Who’s the most famous graduate from your school?
What do you know now that you wish you knew as a freshman?
The biggest thing I realized as the year went on, was how much of a fresh start you truly had. No one from my hometown went to Indiana University, so I genuinely was able to be whoever I wanted to. In high school I was always intimidated by the ‘popular’ crowd and in college it isn’t like that at all. I was able to make so many amazing friends and really, genuinely be me.
Do you have a favorite sports team?
I’m a born and raised Chicago Cubs fan!
What is a nickname that your friends call you?
All throughout high school I was Hannah Banana by my friends, my family called me Hannah Nikki because my middle name is Nicole, and I got the occasional Hannah Montana but that was more when I was in middle school.
Which celebrity would you invite to a dinner party at your house?
Michele Obama would be the celebrity I would want to have at my dinner party. I think the way she carries herself in any situation is amazing. She is always standing tall and everything she has done she has done with grace and kindness. She is a very respected and trusted member of society with a huge heart, which is what I want people to perceive me as when I advance in my career.
What is your go to pre-game song?
