University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Sophomore

I love my college because…

when I was in 8th grade, I visited UTC with my brother who was touring the school. When we finished the tour, I told my mom that I would be going to school here. When it came time to fill out college applications, UTC was the only school I wanted to apply for. I knew I was making a risk because it was going to be more expensive, but I knew I would be happy here. As a sophomore, I don’t regret that decision at all. I love everything about UTC. I love the school spirit that roams around the city and I love how this school is a growing community. The parking may be awful, but being a Moc makes it all worth it.

I really hate…

hearing people chew. I’m really not a fan, at all.

I major in…

Early Childhood Education, and I hope to teach the 2nd grade. I love working with children, and as a teacher, I plan to make children feel empowered and successful.

My hometown is awesome because…

I’m from Memphis, Tennessee and a huge spot in my heart is taken up by that city. Memphis is so diverse and cultured and the people there are so passionate. I love going home to visit my friends, family, and favorite restaurants.

At school, you can find me…

involved with Delta Zeta – Pi Lambda as their spirit chair. I am a resident assistant on campus. I also serve as a volunteer for the Campus Activities Board, and I attend Greek Impact, led by Cru.

My ideal first date would be…

Tough question. With the person I am dating now, our first date was fishing. I can’t say I enjoyed it. He literally hooked me while casting, but it didn’t run me away. I think first dates are ideal for getting to know more about the person and what they enjoy doing. That’s why I respected the fishing date; he let me in on his favorite thing to do and I felt included. There have been plenty of fishing dates since then.

The coolest class I’ve taken so far is…

First Year Experience, and I loved it! Most people drop it in the beginning because they think it’s a waste of time, but it’s really a GPA booster. My professor was the Dean of Education, and I made a great connection with her. The class provided me with resources to use on campus that have helped me succeed.

My favorite late night study snack is…

Toast and hummus, it’s not too unhealthy, and it fills me up until the morning!

If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…

spend that time with the people that I love, my family. They make me feel so comfortable and at ease. They take away all of my worries and they allow me to focus on the present.

If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…

war. I appreciate respect between people and countries, and I wish that would happen. I respect the people who fight for our country, but I wish they didn’t have to. Honestly, world peace would be great.

If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, I would say…

stop worrying about the people around you and what they think. Eventually, you will rarely see those people and their opinions won’t matter. Don’t be afraid to be yourself. Don’t be ashamed to stand up for what you believe in.

I’m going to be Miss COED 2017 because…

I would love the opportunity to represent my school as Miss COED 2017 and make my Mocs proud. I would respect the chance to be a role model for young ladies that are thinking about college. I would promote higher education because I think it’s very important and very attainable.
