Santino William Legan has been identified as the man behind the trigger in the deadly mass shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in Northern California. The shooting left three victims dead and more than a dozen injured. Included in the victims was a six-year-old boy, Stephen Romero, who lost his life.
Authorities have yet to determine a motive for the shooting and a manhunt is currently underway for a second potential suspect.
However, details are beginning to come out regarding Legan.
An Instagram account belonging to Legan has been deleted following the shooting, but Heavy.com was able to grab a screen capture of the account which had posted just three times prior to the attack.
On the account, a since-deleted Instagram post from the alleged shooter read “Read Might Is Right by Ragnar Redbeard. Why overcrowd towns and pave more open space to make room for hordes of mestizos and Silicon Valley white tw*ts?” The caption references a white supremacist book written in 1890.
Another post showed a photo from the festival which read: “Ayyy garlic festival time. Come get wasted on overpriced sh*t.”
Santino William Legan Ethnicity & Nationality
According to his deleted Instagram account, Santino William Legan is of Italian and Iranian descent. His nationality has not been confirmed at this time, though Tom Legan, a West Point graduate who died in May of 2018. Tom Legan reportedly served as a “captain in Korea as a Nuclear Weapons Officer and completed his military service in Germany.”
Vice President Mike Pence has commented on the mass shooting with a statement which reads: “Today our hearts are with the families and loved ones of those involved in the CA shooting. Karen & I offer our prayers for the families & victims of this horrible act of violence. We condemn this attack in the strongest terms. We commend law enforcement for acting swiftly.”
