Morgane Rolland has been identified as the 22-year-old French beauty queen that was killed in Loire, France, last week when she was hit by a tractor-trailer.
According to a report from French news outlet Le Figaro, the 22-year-old model was riding a bicycle with a friend when she was veered off the road to avoid an oncoming car and was then struck and killed by a nearby tractor-trailer.
Reports indicate that after colliding with the tractor-trailer, Rolland’s bike got wedged between the tractor and the trailer, resulting in her being pulled underneath the heavy machinery.
Following the crash, Rolland was taken to a hospital by helicopter, where she was later tragically pronounced dead. The friend Rolland was with and the operator of the tractor-trailer were both unharmed.
Rolland finished second in the of the 2017 Miss Loire contest and competed in a 2018 beauty pageant that would have sent her to the Miss France competition if she came out victorious.
In a statement on Instagram, Sylvie Tellier — who is the national director of the Miss France Organization — called Rolland’s death a tragedy.
“When fate steals the life of a young woman of 22 years, we can only be shaken by the tragedy. Have a good voyage to the land of angels, beautiful Morgane!” Tellier’s emotional Instagram tribute read.

In addition to being a beauty pageant contestant, Rolland was also a volunteer at her local fire station.
