Third grade, science class. A girl pointed to my thighs and snickered, “Ew! How much do you weigh!?” Funny how such small moments can leave such a lasting impact. I spent the rest of my childhood and adolescence hating my legs. I never wore shorts, hid behind towels at pool parties, and later on, under covers with partners. In my thirties I decided to reclaim my body. Not only through exercise, but through acceptance. These legs have carried me thousands of miles. They have never broken or failed me. Even as I wasted so much time hating and hiding them, they have always been there for me. My thighs are big because they’re strong. Your body is perfect because it’s yours. Nothing can change that. Never forget. Love yourself, love yourself, love yourself. 💫
