Born on June 5th, 1995 in Johannesburg, South Africa, he is the son of Laurelle, a homemaker and Shaun Mellet, a real-estate agent. When he was 2 years old, his family relocated to Australia due to rising crime in South Africa. There, he grew up in Perth with his parents and his three siblings Steele, Tyde, and Sage. Being that his family background is Jewish, he was sent to study at a private Modern Orthodox school until 2009 where he started distance education.

His career as a musician started here. He started venturing out and participating in singing competitions where unsurprisingly he went far, shocking judges in Channel Seven Perth Telethon, Australian Idol, and StarSearch. In February 2010, he was nominated to be the opener for a collaborative music charity video to help raise money to help victims in the 2010 Haiti Earthquake. He also has an interest in acting, as he was starred as Oliver Twist in the production of Oliver!. Other films where he was also starred were, “Betrand the Terrible”, “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”, “The Road”, “Spud 1,2,3”, and “Waiting For Godot”.


2011-2016

Troye began posting videos on Youtube of him singing and he accumulated 27,000 subscribers in 5 years. As of 2016, that number reached over 4 million subscribers with over 243 million views across his videos, making his page the third most subscribed channel in Australia. He was signed to EMI Australia, a Universal Music Australia label and finally made his debut when he released his five-song EP called, “TRXYE” where it reached No.1 on iTunes in over 55 countries.  He went on to release more songs such as “Happy Little Pill”, “Wild”, “Fools”, “Talk Me Down”, “There For You” with Martin Garrix, and more.
