The Miami-Dade College Homestead campus in Florida has been placed on lockdown due to reports of a domestic incident and additional reports of a possible gunman nearby.
Reports indicate that heavily armed police are currently on the scene investigating the incident. Responding officers were seen with their guns drawn and wearing camouflage gear. Additionally, an armored police van was parked outside the campus. The SWAT team was also reportedly seen on campus.
According to the Homestead police, the incident started as a domestic dispute in the parking lot and that the Miami-Dade College Homestead campus was placed on lockdown out of “an abundance of caution.”

Miami-Dade College released the following statement on Twitter:
The incident at the Homestead Campus involved a domestic situation in a parking lot which escalated. In an abundance of caution, authorities urged a lockdown of the campus until all involved could be located and interviewed.
The reports of a lockdown at Miami Dade-College’s Homestead campus is the is just the latest in a string of lockdowns, bomb threats, and shootings that have plagued the United States.
