Columbus Day is a state and federal holiday so most businesses and schools will be closed for the day, along with a majority of banks. This means if you want to deposit or withdraw money or are expecting a direct deposit stub to go through on the holiday or the surrounding days, you may need to wait an extra day or so for your transaction to be processed.

Because Columbus Day is a federal holiday, most banks in the country — including the Federal Reserve Banks, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and others — will be closed. However, TD Bank will remain open.
If you use a smaller, private bank or exclusively use an online bank or believe for whatever reason that your local branch will not be closed for Columbus Day, it’s recommended that you check in with your bank a few days prior to get confirmation.
Federal officials, mail services, courts, and many schools will also be closed.
