Camila Mendes was born on June 29th, 1994 in Charlottesville, Virginia. Both of Mendes’ parents Victor and Gisele are of Brazilian descent. Her moth Gisele is from Porto Alegre, the Rio Grande do Sul and her father Victor is from Brasilia, Federal District. Camila herself is a mix of Portuguese-Brazilian and Italian-Brazilian background.
Mendes has spent much of her life moving, totaling sixteen times while she was growing up. Camila spent a good part of her childhood in Flordia. When she was ten her family headed back to Brazil for a year. During this time she really focused on her passions which were acting and just being in the spotlight in general.
Once Camila completed her high school in the United States she enrolled in New York University Tisch School of Arts. Mendes completed her arts program in May 2016. Camila’s first acting debut was in an IKEA commercial.

In 2016, Camila Mendes struck her first golden acting opportunity when she was cast as one of the female leads in the CW show Riverdale. She would be playing the cunning, sassy and beautiful Veronica Lodge the iconic rich girl who just moved to Riverdale. The hit show Riverdale, originally based off Archie’s comic series would have a much darker twist to it. The main cast of high school sophomores was going to deal with a lot more than just schoolwork, cheer practice and boy drama. Murder, suspense, darkness and forbidden romance were going to make this series irresistible to any audience.
Camila’s love interest on the show would be the one and only Archie Andrews, played by the New Zealand native KJ Apa. Mendes had no problem fully getting into character as she impressed her inner mean girl playing Veronica Lodge. In the first season, you find her in a love triangle of epic proportions. When she and her best friend Betty Cooper are both vying for Archie Andrews. As the season finishes out her and Betty both get the happy endings they deserve. While Veronica gets her way with Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper falls for Jughead Jones.
Mendes’ has said she loves how complex Veronica is as a character. She isn’t just the stereotypical mean girl with money. She has baggage to unpack and who better to do that with her than the boy next door Archie Andrews.
