Alex Morgan is one of the best USA women’s soccer players in history and one of the driving forces behind the United States’ recent success on the world stage. The 28-year-old striker made her debut for the senior women’s team in 2010 and has since won a FIFA Women’s World Cup, FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, and an Olympic Gold medal. For her individual success, Morgan was a finalist for the FIFA World Player of the Year in 2012 while bringing home the U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year. She was also the Women’s Sports Foundation Sportswoman of the Year in 2012.
Morgan was a member of the Portland Thorns in the inaugural season of the National Women’s Soccer League in 2013 where she led her team to the league championship. She remained with the club through 2015 before being traded to the Orlando Pride.
Because of her on-field success and marketable looks, Morgan is the top-paid America women’s soccer player.
Before breaking out as an international star, Morgan exceled at Diamond Bar High School before going on to play for the Cal Golden Bears. She led the program in scoring during her freshman season and reached the NCAA Tournament each year. Of course, throughout her college career, Morgan was forced to take extended absences to fulfill her duty with the USA women’s national team.
