Karolina Jasko is set to take the stage in May as the reigning Miss Illinois 2018 for the Miss USA pageant. The 20-year-old native of Franklin Park succeeded 2017 winner Whitney Wandland, who is a dancer for the Chicago Bulls and top five finisher from a year ago. Jasko will be looking to continue the recent run of success for Miss Illinois USA which also includes a Top 15 finish (Renee Wronecki, 2015) and second runner-up (Stacie Juris, 2013).
Jasko is a Psychology Major at the University of Illinois at Chicago and is a newcomer to the pageant scene. Jasko won the Miss Illinois USA crown in just her second pageant. If Jasko goes on to win Miss USA, she “hopes to continue spreading awareness for victims of domestic violence and sexual harassment.”
Outside of the pageant world, Jasko volunteers at A Safe Place, Break the Silence Foundation, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Miss USA takes place Monday, May 21 at Hirsch Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport, Louisiana. The pageant will air live on FOX. The Miss Universe pageant will take place at a yet-to-be-determined date.
