Jamie Hughes will be representing Miss Connecticut USA 2018 when she takes the stage at the upcoming Miss USA competition. The 27-year-old succeeded 2017 winner Olga Litvinenko, a former Miss Connecticut Teen USA who won in her last attempt of eligibility, to claim the crown. She will be looking to be the first Miss Connecticut USA to land in the top 10 since Tiffany Teixeira in 2016 and the first Miss Connecticut to win Miss USA since Erin Brady in 2013.
Hughes is a professional fit model who ha worked with major brands like Kate Spade, Shoshanna, and Rachel Roy. She is currently involved in the Make-A-Wish Organization as a Wish Granter.
The beauty queen is hoping to use her platform as Miss Connecticut to “spread her message on the importance of acceptance and including those around you.”
Miss USA takes place Monday, May 21 at Hirsch Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport, Louisiana. The pageant will air live on FOX. The Miss Universe pageant will take place at a yet-to-be-determined date.
