Cheyene Darling is the reigning Miss Oklahoma USA 2018 and will be representing the Sooner State at the upcoming Miss USA pageant. The 20-year-old Edmond native succeeded 2017 winner Alex Smith and will be looking to keep Oklahoma near the top of the pageant world. In the last decade, Miss Oklahoma USA has produced Miss USA 2015 Olivia Jordan, 2010 first runner-up Morgan Woolard, 2008 third runner-up Lindsey Jo Harrington, and three Top 20 finishers.
Darling is currently working towards completing her degree in Strategic Communications with the goal of entering the sports or entertainment industry.
Darling was bullied as a child and had to overcome a lack of confidence. She uses her past experience to deliver an empowering message to children and young adults that they can overcome any obstacles to accomplish their goals in life.
With her current platform, Darling aims “to raise awareness on the importance of Education and wants to help schools and teachers with providing the proper resources, expanding after-school programs and funding.”
Miss USA takes place Monday, May 21 at Hirsch Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport, Louisiana. The pageant will air live on FOX. The Miss Universe pageant will take place at a yet-to-be-determined date.
