Alexa Noone is the current Miss New Jersey USA 2018, succeeding 2017 winner Chhavi Verg, but the 23-year-old wears many hats. While pursuing her degree in Criminal Justice, Noone is working full-time as a flight attendant for American Airlines and also working to fight for the rights of people with special needs. Her twin siblings suffer from Prader Willi-Syndrome and mental and physical disabilities.
Perhaps one of the most unique facts about Noone’s background that sets her apart from the rest of the Miss USA field is that she is a first-degree black belt in judo and also a sensei. So don’t let the good looks fool you, because she can throw you to the ground quicker than you can say “Miss New Jersey.”
Thank you Sensei for teaching me so much about respect, discipline & having a strong work ethic since 2005. Being a first degree black belt & Sensei in Judo has made me feel empowered as a woman. Young girls & women NEED to feel that sense of comfortability in any environment which is why I encourage everyone to educate themselves in self defense @missnjusa
Noone is a Nicaraguan, Filipino American with German and Irish descent.
Miss USA takes place Monday, May 21 at Hirsch Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport, Louisiana. The pageant will air live on FOX. The Miss Universe pageant will take place at a yet-to-be-determined date.
