On April 27th the WWE will be holding a MASSIVE event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia called the Greatest Royal Rumble, and when they say greatest — they mean it. They are taking the format of what is arguably their most popular event besides Wrestlemania, The Royal Rumble, and turning up the dial to 11. Instead of the tried and true formula of a 30 man, over the top rope elimination match, the WWE has decided to boost that to a 50 man match. That’s right, 50 men enter, only one can win. We all thought that 30 was huge, how the heck are they going to pull off 50!? They are going to pull from every promotion they have, including NXT, because not only are they going to be having this massive Royal Rumble, they are also putting every men’s title up for grabs and two non-title singles matches. What does this stacked card have in store? Here’s where and what to watch on April 27th.

Predictions & Must-See Matches:

The 50-Man Royal Rumble: This is pretty obvious. We all love the Royal Rumble, and now they add 2o more Superstars? It also brings up a lot of questions, the most important being how are they going to fill that many spots… With nine other matches pulling a minimum of 24 Superstars in a different direction than this massive match, what could WWE have up its sleeve? We are definitely going to see NXT and 205 Live talent on hand but are some of those previous 24 going to be pulling double duty? Will the WWE invest in bringing over some surprise appearances to Saudi Arabia? Is this going to be awesome? Or is too much of a good thing still too much… I think it’ll be the former.
Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns in a Steel Cage: Who saw the ending of Wrestlemania 34 going the way it did? Pretty much no one. What seemed like a foregone conclusion, Reigns becoming Universal Champion as Lesnar rides off into the UFC sunset, was shattered in a bloody mess as Lesnar pinned a crimson masked Reigns to retain his Title. When the dust cleared from the main event shocker reports began to fly. Brock Lesnar has resigned with the WWE. Brock Lesnar and Vince McMahon had intense words after the match backstage. Has Brock Lesnar gone into business for himself? Roman Reigns says he learned of his match in Saudi Arabia from the Internet–How much of this is a work? Regardless this would be a good place to jump the title to Reigns, with the crowd most likely being a little less adverse to seeing the Big Dog get the title than that of the Super Dome at Wrestlemania. The can crown Reigns without having to edit a negative crowd reaction in later airings… And it’ll be in a Steel Cage, so that’s pretty awesome.
Intercontinental Title Ladder Match: Ok so you’re going to take the three stellar superstars from Wrestlemania 34, add a ladder, and inject Samoa Joe into the equation? Count me in. We already know The Miz is a great storyteller. We already know Finn Balor and Seth Rollins can fight forever. And we were so excited to have it at ‘Mania 34. Now you add a ladder that can cater to the intense and athletic styles of Balor and Rollins? And for the cherry on top the return of Samoa Joe who arguably brings the one thing this trio lacks, a huge bruiser who can level anyone in their way. This match could potentially steal the show, making it a must-see.
Rusev vs. The Undertaker in a Casket Match: So it’s back on? WWE continues it’s on again off again relationship with the Bulgarian Brute. This was the original match that WWE announced for the event but seemingly out of nowhere Rusev was pulled and replaced by Chris Jericho. The in-story reason was Lana, Rusev’s wife and fellow superstar, requested he be removed from the dangerous match. After a strange TMZ interview and a little twitter heat with the Undertaker’s wife, former superstar Michelle McCool, people were wondering if this was the end for Rusev. But apparently Lana has had a change of heart and requested her husband be reinstated into the match with the Deadman. There are reports that this is all a story and the promotion is pulling a work on its fans. Either way, this could be a great match and hopefully this will help pull Rusev out of the mid-card, the fans want it and he deserves it.
It seems like this PPV has snuck up on us with how much they’ve stacked into it. It is still building its matches with less than two weeks before it hits, so keep an eye on here for changes. I for one am extremely excited to see a 50-man Royal Rumble.
