James R. Thompson Center Shooting: Full Story & Must-See Updates

A shooting has been reported at James R. Thompson Center in Chicago’s Loop. The shooting happened around 2 p.m. local time.

According to police, authorities were responding to the scene in the 100 block of West Randolph. Chicago Police Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said a “CPD member” was shot and taken to an area hospital. The unidentified officer has reportedly died from his injuries.

The James R. Thompson Center is located at 100 W. Randolph Street in the Loop district of Chicago and houses offices of the Illinois state government.
