Microsoft has been steadily making waves in the Gaming world with the creation of the Xbox Game Pass, a “Netflix-style” game subscription service, back in June 2017. Allowing subscribers unlimited access to a select title of games, the Xbox Games Pass including past hits like Dead Rising 4, Halo 5: Guardians, and underlooked classic Sunset Overdrive.
Today, January 23rd, 2018, Microsoft announced that all future titles coming from Microsoft Studios will be available to subscribers on release day! Used to be seen as the easiest way to pick up “older games” on your Xbox One console, the Xbox Game Pass is now becoming the Xbox’s golden ticket. With already 100+ amazing titles offered by the service, subscribers can now expect the newest and best Xbox exclusives to be delivered their Xbox One on day one.
Microsoft announced today the first three titles that would be making their way over to the service when they launch later on this year. Starting with Rare’s latest online pirate adventure game, Sea of Thieves, the game will be available to subscribers (at no additional cost) the moment it releases on March 20th, 2018! Following Sea of Thieves, Microsoft will be adding the highly anticipated Crackdown 3 and cooperative zombie survival game State of Decay 2 when they release later on in 2018. Unfortunately, neither of the titles have a set release date other than the placeholder 2018 date.

This news comes as a massive surprise to the entire gaming community as it basically means that subscribers do not have to buy another Xbox exclusive title when they release. Suggesting that when the next Forza Motorsport, Forza Horizon, Gears of War, and even Halo game gets announced, they will be hitting the service on their launch days. Please note though, this will only be happening for Microsoft Studios titles only, so don’t be expecting to get every game released on the Xbox on the Game Pass.
The Xbox Game Pass service is only available to Xbox One owners but according to the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, in an interview with PC Gamer he said, “I’ve said I want to bring Game Pass to the PC. The team doesn’t love it when I pre-announce things, but I definitely want to bring Game Pass to PC.”
Xbox Game Pass is available to subscribe now for $9.99 a month, and Microsoft recently announced they would be offering 6-Month Xbox Game Pass subscriptions in stores, like GameStop, for $60.
