Chocolate is a very old form of food, candy, and drink. Chocolate drink was introduced as early as 1750 BCE by the pre-Olmec people on the Gulf Coast of Veracruz, Mexico. The sweet treat wasn’t discovered by Europeans until the 16th century when that dastardly Christopher Columbus came across the cacao bean on his fourth trip to the Americas (August 15, 1502).
