2. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
With the Switch’s portability factor and the ability to have two controllers at a whim, 2015’s excellent Mario Kart 8 on the Nintendo Wii U was a no-brainer to bring to the hardware. Enter 2017’s Mario Kart 8 Deluxe<, the definitive version of the fast paced kart racer jampacked with new characters and to much fan praise, a classic battle mode like the original games. 3. Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove
Yacht Club Games continues to improve and expand upon the already addicting Shovel Knight game by compiling the base game and it’s two impressive DLC packs for a great throwback to SNES platformer. Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove is a must buy for anyone seeking a quirky and funny story, great action platforming, and a great game for quick pick up and play sessions.
Take the frenzied fast matches of Smash Bros, add in some inspiration from the NES’ Punch-Out!! and finish with Nintendo’s signature “cartoony” presentation and you get ARMS. A fighting game unlike anything you’ve seen in a fighting game before. “Armed” with extendable, elementally equipped arms, fighters duke it out in the ring in frantic ninety second matches. Full of character, humor, and extremely tense battles; ARMS is a clear winner for the Nintendo Switch.
5. Splatoon 2
The Inkling squid kids are back and boy are they fresher than ever! Bursting onto the Nintendo Switch in a dazzling, colorful and delightful sequel to the Wii U’s Splatoon in Splatoon 2. Featuring great game play, a lively and fun world hub full of other real life players, and reasons to keep coming back in the form of free updates and Splatfests (a timed tournament in which players pick sides over a question and fight to win for their team).
