Tamina Snuka is a powerful force on WWE’s blue brand. Every week on SmackDown, Tamina sends a cold streak of fear down the back of whoever gets in her way. She’s the daughter of “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka, a legend in the business of professional wrestling. Tamina looks to not only live up to the legacy of her father, but also to be able to forge her very own path in the world of sports entertainment.
She was born Sarona Moana-Marie Reiher Snuka-Polamalu on January 10, 1978, in Vancouver, Washington. In 2009, Snuka began training to become a pro wrestler, after winning a scholarship for the Wild Samoan Training Center. Just one later, Snuka found herself beneath the bright lights of WWE’s Monday Night Raw on worldwide television.
Tamina Snuka made her WWE debut, alongside The Usos, on the May 24, 2010, edition of Raw. She started her career off as a villainous character, but gradually developed a comedic side as she formed an on-screen relationship with known funny man Santino Marella.
Over the years, Tamina has mainly played the role of the enforcer for younger, more successful athletes. She was the back-up for the likes of AJ Lee, Sasha Banks, Naomi, and now Lana. Maybe it’s time for Snuka to stand out on her own and finally take home the women’s championship.
This Sunday at WWE Battleground, Tamina has another shot at greatness. If she can knock off four of SmackDown’s finest female athletes then she’ll go on to challenge her former friend Noami for the championship at SummerSlam. All Tamina has to do is beat the likes of Becky Lynch, Natalya Neidhart, “The Ravishing Russian” Lana, and “The Queen” Charlotte Flair.
Snuka has a lot of history with Naomi. Maybe former friends will finally clash under the bright lights of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn at SummerSlam.
