For the first time ever, female wrestlers will compete in a Money In The Bank ladder match. This Sunday, history will be made as five premiere contenders of the women’s division will compete for that pearly white briefcase hanging high above the ring. The winner will receive a shot at the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship at any time of her choosing.
But who will win that briefcase? Could it be “The Queen” Charlotte Flair? She’s already a multiple-time women’s champion of Monday Night Raw, will that success follow her to the blue brand?
Tell me more about Charlotte Flair
Charlotte was named Pro Wrestling Illustrated‘s “Women of the Year” and the world’s top female professional wrestler in 2016. She became the first woman to main event a pay per view, alongside “The Boss” Sasha Banks, at WWE Hell In A Cell 2016.
Ms. Flair calls herself “The Queen.” She’s as dominating a force as anyone in the main event slot. Charlotte is a wrecking ball of force when she steps inside that squared circle. She’s a 4-time WWE Raw Women’s Champion. She’s also a former WWE Divas Champion and second-ever NXT Women’s Champion.
The Queen often reigns supreme, but not when she has The Welcoming Committee on her back. The tandem of Natalya Neidhart, Tamina Snuka, James Ellsworth and Carmella have been all over Charlotte’s case ever since she arrived on SmackDown.
Tell me more about Carmella
Carmella is proud to be that moon-walkin’, trash-talkin’, Princess of Staten Island. She’s a chick that just won’t quit. A girl who grew up in the heart of New York with all the attitude intact. And oh, she can kick some serious ass.
“The Chinless Wonder” James Ellsworth is always by her side to hype up ya girl. He’s always there to make sure people know what’s up about this piece of Staten Island royalty.
I doubt that the Welcoming Committee will be on her side tonight (except that guy with no chin). Tamina and Natalya will be looking to forge their own legacies on Sunday.
Tell me more about Natalya
Natalya Neidhart is apart of professional wrestling royalty. Her uncle is former WWE Champion Bret “Hitman” Heart, and her father is Bret’s longtime tag-team partner Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart. Nattie is a second-generation superstar and let’s everyone know about her storied ancestry.
Natalya is a former WWE Divas Champion, as she defeated Michelle McCool and Layla in a 2-on-1 handicap match at the 2010 edition of the Survivor Series. However, Nattie hasn’t been able to capture championship gold since she lost that title at the 2011 Royal Rumble.
Ms. Neidhart has been made a comeback over the last year. She turned heel on Becky Lynch and defeated the Irish Lasskicker at last year’s Money In The Bank pay-per-view. Will Nattie find success at this year’s event as well?
Tell me more about Becky Lynch
Becky is that “Irish Lass Kicker” on the blue brand. She’s the first-ever WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion. Plus, ya girl is straight fire.
Lynch kicked off her career at the age of 15 in Ireland. She lied to trainers, telling them that she was a year older. She’s a 30-year-old wrestler who is already a 15-year veteran.
The crowd goes crazy for Becky’s epic steam punk entrance. She’s an orange-haired spitfire who leaves the crowd entertained and wanting more.
Tell me more about Tamina Snuka
Tamina is a second-generation superstar. Her father is legendary pro wrestler Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka. She has Samoan, Japanese, and Fijian ancestry.
Ms. Snuka made her WWE debut on the May 24th, 2010, edition of Monday Night Raw. She arrived on the scene as a villain alongside The Usos. Tamina has shifted back and forth between villainous, heroic, and comedic roles. At one point, she was the on-screen girlfriend of the ultra cooky Santino Marella.
The 39-year-old athlete was once a member of Team B.A.D. alongside Sasha Banks and current SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi. Now, Tamina has a shot at her former ally’s championship. Can Ms. Snuka finally pull off the big one after all these years? Will she become the next female champion of SmackDown Live?
