WWE Raw: Results, Live Updates & Must-See Highlights – 06/05/17

WWE Monday Night Raw is live from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. A new #1 contender has been named for Brock Lesnar’s WWE Universal Championship. Bray Wyatt may have lost at Extreme Rules, but tonight he opens up tonight’s show with a powerful promo. Wyatt is scheduled to fight Roman Reigns in the first match of the night. But first, the prophet of darkness will speak.

Bray Wyatt Kicks Off Tonight’s Raw

Wyatt says that all his opponents on Sunday were guilty. Wyatt says that one-by-one they all will be punished. He’ll start with Roman Reigns himself. The crowd boos. Reigns music hits and the crowd jeers even more. Wyatt says “right on cue.”

The crowd envelopes Reigns with “Roman sucks.”

Reigns says, “Do you hear this? That’s what happens when you’re The Guy.” Reigns drops Wyatt with a big right hand. Bray rolls out of the ring and the match begins..

Bray Wyatt Vs. Roman Reigns

Wyatt tries to hit Roman with a Sister Abigail to start off the match. But Roman fights back hard. Wyatt exits the ring to avoid the onslaught. Raw commentator says that “Reigns has Wyatt stunned.”

We’re back from the break and both men are down. Wyatt gets to his feet first and goes on the assault, striking Roman and trapping him in a headlock. We see a clip of what happened during the commercial break, when Wyatt runs the ropes and demolishes Roman.

Reigns tries to battle back, but Wyatt drops him with a DDT. Wyatt goes for the cover. 1..2…kick out!

Wyatt doesn’t waste any time and traps Reigns in a headlock once again. But Reigns turns the tide and hits Bray with a Samoan Drop. Reigns drops Wyatt with a flurry of clotheslines.

The Eater of Worlds quickly recovers and lays out Roman Reigns as we go to the commercial break.

When we return from the break, Wyatt has Reigns in a headlock once again. But Roman fights back with a devastating Superman Punch. Wyatt rolls to the outside but winds up eating a Drive-by Kick from Reigns. But Bray immediately recovers and hits Roman with a sick clothesline. Raw color commentator Corey Graves says that “Wyatt nearly decapitated Reigns.”

Wyatt is looking to put away Reigns, but The Guy fights back once again. He nails the Eater of Worlds with a spear to end the match.

Backstage Interview w/Enzo & Big Cass

Enzo & Big Cass say they don’t know who attacked Enzo on those past two editions of Monday Night Raw. Enzo makes fun of Corey Graves hair-jell for speculating that his good friend Big Cass attacked him. Cass is disgusted by those acquisitions. And Enzo seems like he has a thing for the brunette interviewer. “How you doin’?

Alexa Bliss is Backstage w/Raw General Manager Kurt Angle

Bliss tells Angle about her plans to host another segment on Raw. This segment will be dedicated to Bliss, entitled “This is My Life.” Needless to say, but Kurt Angle thought that was a terrible idea.

Angle reminds Alexa that she promised Nia Jax a shot at the Raw Women’s Championship. That match will happen tonight.

Dean Ambrose is in Action Next!

Elias Samson vs. Dean Ambrose

Samson kicks off the segment under a spotlight with a guitar. He says he came up with this song after seeing a leaf fall on a highway. He insults Wilkes-Barre with his song. He also disrespects Dean Ambrose.

Dean’s music hits, and he comes down to the ring and immediately attacks Samson. He throws the singer out of the ring. Ambrose says he wants to face The Miz and take back his Intercontinental Championship.

The Miz appears on the titan-tron with his wife Maryse. He informs Ambrose that he won’t be defending his title tonight. Miz is sitting down, preparing for his championship celebration as someone powders his face with make-up.

Backstage: Ambrose is looking for The Miz

The Lunatic Fringe is on the hunt for The Miz. Kurt Angle appears and tries to talk sense into Dean. Ambrose says that he just wants to talk to The Miz. Angle gives Ambrose a day off instead.

#1 Contender for the WWE Universal Championship Samoa Joe addresses the crowd

Samoa Joe tells the crowd that what they see before them is a man who does not fear Brock Lesnar. Joe says he’s incapable of fearing him because he’s far too envious of Lesnar. He’s jealous of Lesnar’s accomplishments and he wants to take it from him. Joe envies Brock’s lax schedule, where he can come in a few days of the year, kick ass, and leave.

Joe also wants Paul Heyman by his side as an errand boy. But most of all, Joe wants Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship. And at the next pay-per-view Great Balls of Fire, Joe will take that championship from him.

Paul Heyman’s voice interjects itself into the equation. Heyman reveals himself to the crowd and walks down the entrance while speaking about his client Brock Lesnar. Heyman then starts talking about the new #1 contender, who has left carnage in his wake everywhere he walks.

Heyman says Lesnar doesn’t take Joe seriously. He says that it is his responsibility to make sure that Lesnar is Joe’s worst case scenario at Great Balls of Fire.

Joe responds by cornering Heyman. Joe whispers to him that he’s going to wrap his arm around Heyman’s neck. Joe applies the Coquina Clutch to Paul until he passes out. Officials have to pry Joe from Heyman.

Backstage: Kurt Angle is pissed at Samoa Joe

Angle wants to know what the hell is wrong with Samoa Joe. The Samoan Submission Machine says that he was just trying to send a message. Seth Rollins appears and gets up in Joe’s grill. It looks like they may have a match for later tonight.

Sheamus & Cesaro vs. Heath Slater & Rhyno

If you blinked you probably missed this match. Sheamus & Cesaro make short order of their opponents. Sheamus hits the Brogue Kick on Heath Slater and that’s it.

Post-Match Promo: This promo may have lasted longer than the match. They talk about their victory last night against The Hardys in a steel cage match. They don’t raise the bar, they are the bar!

Backstage: TJP wants a shot at Neville’s Cruiserweight Championship

TJP thinks it’s about time he receives a title shot against Neville’s championship. The King of the Cruiserweights tells TJP that it will happen in “due time.” But TJP doesn’t want to wait. He’s been watching Neville’s back and has done everything he’s asked of him. TJP thinks he deserves a title shot. Neville says he’ll talk with Angle and sees what happens. TJP walks off.

TJP (TJ Perkins) vs. Mustafa Ali

Both men lock up and TJP rams Ali into the corner. TJP is sinking his boot into Ali’s face. Mustafa uses his athletic offense to fight back. But he turned his back on TJP and paid foor it. TJP yanks Ali’s hair and pulls him to the mat.  Perkins then flips over the top rope onto the fallen Mustafa.

TJP is now in control of Ali, stretching him out with a submission hold. Ali regains control and takes to the sky with a tornado DDT. Ali is about to put away his opponent with a high-risk, top-rope move. But TJP knocks Ali back down to the ring. TJP takes out Ali with a Detonation Kick.

Post-Match: Neville comes out and breaks some unfortunate news to Ali. He says that he talked to Angle about giving TJP a title shot, but he’s no miracle worker. TJP looks pissed and demands that Neville come with him to Angle’s office to request that championship match. As TJP turns his back, Neville pounces and beats him down to the steel grates of the entrance mat. The King of the Cruiserweights tells TJP that he’ll get his title shot tomorrow on WWE 205.

Dean Ambrose sneaks into the building

As a distracted Kurt Angle exits the arena, Dean catches the door and steps inside the building.

Titus O’Neil wants to recruit Akira Tozawa

Kalisto vs. Titus O’Neil

Titus controls the match early on. He knocks Kalisto to the floor with a huge kick. Akira Towzawa is looking on backstage, as O’Neil had earlier offered him a spot in the Titus Brand group. O’Neil goes for the pin on Kalisto, but the masked luchador turns the tide and rolls-up Titus for the win.

Someone jumped Big Cass!

The Miz is walking backstage with his lovely wife Maryse by his side. They turn their heads to see someone lying unconscious face-down on the floor. “Who is that?” says Miz. Referees rush to the scene and they identify the fallen wrestler as Big Cass. Enzo also rushes to come to the aid of Cass. He asks the ref if they know what happened? The ref doesn’t know. “Are you lyin’, bro?” asks Enzo.

We’re back from the break and Cass is being helped to his feet. Officials are assisting him with an icepack to his shoulder. Enzo informs Cass that they have a match next. “Come on, OG Cass Kenobi, we have a match next. I can’t do this on my own.” But Big Cass is way too hurt and walks off.

The Miz’ Championship Celebration

Maryse kicks off the celebration and introduces her husband: the seven-time Intercontinental Champion The Miz. Miz tells everyone to toast to him. But wait..who’s that dancing guy in the bear costume? Dean Ambrose? The Miz gives that bearman a Skull Crushing Finale. He unmasks the bear, but it’s not the former champion. It’s just some guy.

A big golden gift-wrapped present is wheeled down to ringside. Miz attacks the package furiously with a steel chair and his body. Maryse is going crazy. That’s a gift she bought. It’s revealed to be a grandfather clock, and now it’s broken. Maryse says she spent a year preparing that gift for her husband, “it’s timeless, just like you.” Maryse storms off.

The Miz is bugging out. He’s paranoid about the Lunatic Fringe. Where is he? A cameraman enters the ring as The Miz rants. He puts down his equipment and he’s revealed to be Dean Ambrose.

Enzo Amore & The Big Show vs. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson

Enzo announces his tag team partner for the night: The Big Show. The giant looks tense like he’s about to knock out Enzo. But he softens up and plays the role of Big Cass. He calls Enzo “the squirrel from Ice Age whose always looking for a…” A squirrel looking for a nut.

Show calls Gallows and Anderson “soft.” Enzo starts off the match and he gets dominated by his much-larger opponents. He tags in the Big Show who takes control. Show hits the chokeslam on Karl Anderson, then launches Enzo onto Anderson for the win.

WWE Raw Women’s Championship match: Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Nia Jax

Bliss looks absolutely terrified of Nia Jax. Nia dominates the shaken Bliss. Dana Brook and Mickie James come down to ringside. The brave, but foolish Bliss smacks the imposing Jax. Nia throws Bliss around the ring like a ragdoll. Jax goes for a big splash in the corner, but Alexa moves out of the way.

Alexa jumps on Nia’s back and tries to apply a sleeperhold. Jax throws Bliss down to the mat. Alexa rolls outside for a breather. Alexa is crawling on her knees and looks up at Dana and Mickie. Bliss pushes Dana and Mickie. Bliss goes on the attack, but gets hit back. The referee calls for the bell. Bliss smiles with a little bit of blood on her lower lip.

Nia Jax defeats Alexa Bliss by disqualification. Therefore, Bliss retains her championship.

Post-Match: Dana and Mickie assault Alexa at ringside. Nia takes out Dana and Mickie because she wants Bliss all to herself. Jax annihilates Bliss. Nia stands tall.

Paul Heyman gets a call from “The Beast Incarnate” Brock Lesnar

Samoa Joe vs. Seth Rollins

Samoa Joe gains the early advantage after he tosses his towel in the face of Rollins. Joe beats Seth down into the corner. But “The Architect” Rollins battles back with chops. Joe quickly regains control, hitting Rollins with a head-butt. Rollins tires to rally back, but he runs the ropes right into Joe’s elbow.

Joe picks up Rollins and tries to throw him out of the ring. Rollins reverses and tosses Joe out of the ring. Seth runs the ropes and goes for a suicide dive, but instead gets hit with a sick kick to the head. Joe picks up Rollins and throws his body into the barricade. He picks up Rollins again and brings The Architect into the ring.

Joe continues to kick-ass in the ring. Rollins fights back, but he obviously looks hurt. Seth tries to fly from the top ropes, but Joe purposefully knocks into the ropes, causing The Architect to lose his balance. Joe capitalizes on the shaken Rollins and smacks him in the head with another hard kick in the corner. Joe stands tall as we go to commercial break.

As we return from the break, Joe is still in control. Rollins is still laid out. We see a clip from the break: Rollins tries to fight back, but finds himself victim to Joe’s suplex.

Rollins tries to turn the tide again, but Joe knocks him down once again. Joe is twisting Rollins head in a modified headlock. Rollins fights out, but Joe kicks ass once again with a flurry of offense. Joe hits Rollins with a back splash. Raw commentator Corey Graves says that he “doesn’t remember the last time Rollins was dominated like this.”

Joe contorts Rollins right arm in a submission hold. Rollins fights out, but Joe quickly regains control with a powerslam. Rollins literally ran right into that high-impact move. Joe moves Rollins into the corner and lays into him with a series of chops. The crowd goes, “Woooooo,” in honor of “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair.

Rollins counters Joe’s offense. The Architect is really kicking ass again. He performs a suicide dive onto Joe. Rollins brings Joe back in the ring. Joe charges Rollins, but eats a boot. Joe rolls outside the ring. Rollins takes Joe out with another suicide dive. Rollins launches himself back in the ring with a flying clothes. He goes for the cover on Joe. 1…2…kick out!

Seth continues the offense, as he takes out Joe with a huge slam. Rollins looks primed for victory, but then Bray Wyatt’s magic powers messes with the camera and the lights. Rollins looks around in a frightened, paranoid state. Joe capitalizes on the distracted Seth and slaps in the Coquina Clutch. Rollins passes out.
