We’re all well aware that Stephen A. Smith is a hot take shock jockey, saying whatever, whenever, in order to get the strongest reaction. However, that doesn’t mean he’s always wrong.

On Monday’s episode of the ESPN behemoth First Take, Stephen A. sounded off on Kevin Durant for comments he made dismissing those who have taken issue with the Warriors dominant run in the playoffs.

“He’s aged. And along the process of aging, he’s gotten more arrogant, he’s gotten more disrespectful, he’s gotten more dismissive—particularly of the fans,” Smith said. “To be quite honest with you, he hasn’t gotten smarter. And the reason why he hasn’t gotten smarter is because the younger Durant never would have said something so flagrantly disrespectful towards fans.”

And Stephen A is right. Kevin Durant has been arrogant, disrespectful, and I’d go as far as saying he’s been ignorant as well.

I’ve watched almost every game of the NBA playoffs so far, and to see Kevin Durant strutting around, puffing his chest and talking shit to his opponents shows a complete lack of self-awareness. Does he have any clue that he’s one of the most unliked players in the league right now? Does he have any idea that droves of fans jumped off his bandwagon after he left Oklahoma City?

No, he doesn’t have a remote clue, and that’s what makes him arrogant and ignorant. Couple that with the fact that he’s always bitched and moaned about the media, and is now bitching about fans too, and you have one hell of an unlikeable player.

Should KD and the Warriors win it all this year, Durant will become the league’s primary villain. Should the Warriors lose, Durant may get a wake-up call by how many fans enjoy dancing on his grave.
