“The Queen” Charlotte Flair is on the hunt for Naomi’s title on tonight’s episode of SmackDown Live. Last week, Charlotte earned her championship opportunity as she convincingly decimated and defeated the SmackDown Women’s Champion.
The heat is on for Naomi! And not just because she’s a former Miami Heat cheerleader. If she doesn’t put her head in the game, that title may just slip away from her grasp. But Ms. Glow is a force to be reckon with. She may just end Charlotte’s championship aspirations with a Rear View finisher.
In the past, Naomi has defeated the cream of the crop from SmackDown‘s women’s division. But then again, it’s hard to knock off a queen.
Who is Charlotte Flair?
“The Queen” is the daughter of legendary 16-time world champion “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair. In 2014, Pro Wrestling Illustrated named Charlotte the “Rookie of the Year.” She arrived on the scene of Monday Night Raw in 2015, and so far, she’s won five championships (1-time Divas Champion and 4-time Raw Women’s Champion). She is considered a pioneer of WWE’s Divas/Women’s Revolution.
On April 11, 2017, Charlotte was drafted over to SmackDown Live as apart of the WWE Superstar Shake-up. And boy, did Charlotte shake up things on SmackDown. Just ask Naomi.
Who is Naomi?
Naomi is the current SmackDown Women’s Champion. She is in her second reign, after winning a six-pack challenge at WrestleMania 33.
Ms. Glow first appeared on WWE television, back in 2010, for their weekly NXT rookie competition series. Naomi finished in second place overall. She would make her Monday Night Raw debut on January 9, 2012, as part of the Funkadactyls.
What are the Funkadactyls? They were two women who managed former WWE star and current Fox News contributor Brodus Clay. He was the Funkasaurus. And Naomi and former WWE diva Cameron were his funky dancers.
After Clay was let go by the WWE. Naomi went off to manage the Usos. She even ended marrying Jimmy Uso (Jonathan Fatu) of the Usos.
Naomi then went onto form Team B.A.D. with Sasha Banks and Tamina Snuka. After that team dissolved, Ms. Glow went off on her own, hungry for championship gold. She won her first title in the WWE after defeating Alexa Bliss at WWE’s Elimination Chamber pay per view in February 2017.
An injury forced Naomi to vacate her WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship after only about a week of being champion. But she came back strong, and took back her title at ‘Mania. Now, she may be in the fight of her life against the imposing “Queen” Charlotte Flair.
