Honestly, I’m only writing this article because I want to talk about how goddamn good Logan was. I’m a big comic book guy, and not since The Dark Knight has a comic book film made you forget that what you’re watching is based on a cartoon. The only reason Logan isn’t going to be nominated for Best Picture at next year’s Oscars is that A.) it came out in March, and B.) because the Academy discriminates against comic flicks. Hopefully, with the expanded field of nominees, Logan sneaks its way in, even though it has absolutely no shot of winning.
That said, Hugh Jackman unequivocally deserves to be nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role come the 90th Academy Awards. Watch Casey Affleck in Manchester By The Sea or Eddie Redmayne’s performance in The Theory Of Everything and tell me Jackman isn’t better.
Anyway, apparently someone with far superior film editing skills than I also adored Logan and decided to put together this kickass retrospective. I’m a sucker for retrospectives (and Johnny Cash and comic books), so this was a layup for me. And if you’ve ever enjoyed a single X-Men movie, this video’s a layup for you too.
