On Sunday, February 5, the 51st edition of the Super Bowl will be played. As excited as I am to watch the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons duke it out, I am much more pumped to see Hopper, Mike, Dustin, Eleven, and the rest of the gang battle monsters in the Upside-Down.
The second season of Stranger Things is set to air this year on Netflix, but details about the show have been guarded like a goddamn secret of national security. Thankfully, we will finally get some more information about the show on Sunday, as a trailer for the upcoming nine-episode season will air during the big game.
Let me say that I absolutely love this marketing move by Netflix. I don’t understand why some companies put their full Super Bowl commercials online before the game. Seems like a waste of money considering the astronomical costs to buy Super Bowl airtime. Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free, right? But I also don’t like when commercials don’t have any pregame presence at all. That’s how cool stuff can get lost in the shuffle.
Netflix is playing it perfectly right down the middle like they’re f*cking Goldilocks. Get me all sorts of fired up without actually giving anything away before Sunday. Such an effective tease. Now I just gotta scoop up a bedpan from Walgreens to make sure that I don’t miss the trailer.
