31 Pounds Of Cocaine Accidentally Discovered Stashed In The Nose Of American Airlines Plane

Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office authorities say they discovered 31 pounds of cocaine worth $434,000 stashed in the nose of an American Airlines aircraft in Tulsa. Not sure you how accidentally discover nearly half a million dollars worth of cocaine, but that’s not what’s important.

Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Justin Green said the plane arrived in Miami from Bogota, Colombia (of course), on Sunday. The plane was flagged for repairs and sent later that day to an American Airlines maintenance base at Tulsa International Airport.

While working on the nose gear, an airline employee noticed what looked like a clump of insulation or a brick-like object and called the sheriff’s office to inspect the suspicious find.

Authorities then discovered seven bricks of cocaine, which they calculated is worth at least $14,000 a pound.

“That’s a lot of cocaine, so we suspect cartel involvement,” Tulsa County sheriff’s spokeswoman Casey Roebuck told The Tulsa World. “That’s why we’re turning it over to the DEA.”

Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Green said the case has been turned over to the DEA.
