While you were busy stacking your gift cards over Winter Break, people like Lexy Milliken were actually giving them away. Imagine that?!
The Miss COED 2017 semifinalist collected monetary and food donations on her 16th birthday instead of receiving presents, making her a much better person than most. Seriously. If there were more people like Lexy, the world would be a swell place to live…and my wallet wouldn’t have been stolen two weeks ago.

The Union County Community Shelter, is my hometown’s local homeless shelter. I have worked with them and for them ever since I was a little girl and I am extremely passionate about ending homelessness. Homelessness is a worldwide issue that is all too often overlooked. People have common misconceptions about the homeless, often thinking they are lazy and nasty, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. I have made a point in my life to educate others on the truth about the homeless and have done many different things in the past to help make that happen. For example, at my 16th birthday party I asked for monetary and food donations instead of presents and the results were overwhelming! I also regularly work in the kitchen serving dinner and at their annual benefit dinner, amongst various other things. I [also planned] a Christmas party where I asked my guests to bring an item like food, hygiene products, etc.
Who do you look up to the most and why?
I look up to both of my parents more than anyone else. Both have huge hearts for helping others, which they passed down to me. My dad was honored as our county’s Man of the Year this year and has received many other awards in the community. My mom and dad both serve multiple committees in our community and help with anything they can get their hands on. They have always been there to support me and guide me in the right direction, which I really value. They rock and I hope to be just like them one day.

Visit all 50 states!! (And many other places outside of the United States). I just love traveling!
What’s your favorite school tradition?
At UNC Chapel Hill, tradition is incorporated into every day. However, my favorite school tradition is one I have not done yet, rushing Franklin street. After a win against Duke or another big win, all of the students run from the Dean Dome to Franklin Street. It is a long lasting tradition and I cannot wait until I get to participate.
