Carrie Fisher, better known as Princess Leia Organa in Star Wars, has died. She was 60-years-old.

The family of Fisher released a statement on behalf of the now deceased Hollywood star.

“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”

On December 23 Fisher was flying to Los Angeles when she went into cardiac arrest. She was immediately removed from the flight in the unexpected landing and transported straight to a nearby hospital. She was later pronounced dead.

Born and raised by Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, Fisher lived a life full of the arts, including film, theater and television. With both parents heavily involved in showbiz, this lead to an uneasy upbringing.

To celebrate her life, we look back on a few of the snapshots of Fisher’s career.
