It usually isn’t a great sign when a west coast team has to travel cross-country to play an east coast team. The Los Angeles Rams, coming off a huge win, make that long journey in Week 3 to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but have the luxury of the game being an afternoon affair. The two teams appear to be taking very different paths so far with the Rams not going with the top pick in last year’s draft Jared Goff at quarterback while the Buccaneers trust in Jameis Winston. Here is a look at the matchup.
The Rams found a way to win a 9-3 game at home against the Seattle Seahawks but haven’t found the end zone once this season through two games. Case Keenum has thrown for 369 yards and two interceptions in the pass game while looking for Tavon Austin and Kenny Britt plenty. Britt leads the team with ten catches for 161 yards. Todd Gurley has struggled on the ground with only 98 rushing yards on 36 carries. The defense stopped Seattle but couldn’t stop San Francisco in Week 1. They will need a huge effort in this game to get the Rams another win.
The Buccaneers got dominated during a 40-7 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Winston has thrown for 524 yards and five touchdowns this season but also has five interceptions which can’t continue. Doug Martin got hurt last week and Charles Sims may be in charge of the run game but this team is dependent on Winston finding Mike Evans. Evans has 11 catches for 169 yards and two touchdowns and has been targeted on 25 of Winston’s 84 passes this year. It has been a bad first two weeks for the defense but there should have better luck against Keenum and a weaker Los Angeles pass game.
