It isn’t often when the Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions get together but for the first time in four years, the two teams will play on Sunday afternoon in the Motor City. The Titans come into the game off a loss while the Lions won their opener in dramatic fashion. This shapes up to be a battle between two of the more exciting quarterbacks in the NFL with Marcus Mariota and Matthew Stafford and a game that could be very high-scoring. Here is a look at the matchup.
The Titans lost 25-16 at home to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1 but showed some signs that he could be a dangerous team as the season goes on. Mariota threw for 271 yards and two touchdowns on 41 attempts as Tennessee played from behind most of the afternoon. DeMarco Murray rushed for 42 yards but also caught both of Mariota’s touchdown passes. Murray is going to be expected to play much better this week as Tennessee tries to get their first win of the season. The defense will have their hands full with Stafford and have to make sure they don’t fall too far behind early.
The Lions got a 39-35 win over the Indianapolis Colts on the road. The right arm and shoulder of Stafford had to be tired after the win with 340 yards through the air and three touchdown passes on 31-of-39 passing. Ameer Abdullah and Theo Riddick proved what kind of potent attack they can combine to be on the air and in the pass game. Marvin Jones had four catches for 85 yards but was targeted ten times in the first game without retired Calvin Johnson. Stafford and the Lions may have finally found a groove and could be well on their way to a 2-0 start with another similar performance this week.
