Chiefs vs. Texans: Date, Kickoff Time, TV Channel & Preview

The first week of the 2016 NFL season was a very successful one for both the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans as both teams won. The two teams will face off again in Week 2 for the first time since the Chiefs pounded the Texans in the wild-card round of the playoffs last season. This is a very different Houston team however and one that should be able to give the Chiefs some fits while Kansas City looks solid yet again. Here is a look at the matchup.

The Chiefs rallied for a 33-27 overtime win against the San Diego Chargers. Alex Smith threw a career-high 48 passes and passed for 363 yards and two touchdowns in the process. Spencer Ware was a monster with 70 rushing yards and a touchdown along with seven catches for 129 yards. Ware is likely going to play again in Week 2 with Jamaal Charles still injured. Travis Kelce had six catches of his own for 74 yards. The one thing that must be watched is how the defense plays after giving up so many early points last week. If they can slow the Texans down early, that will be a very positive step.

The Texans beat the Chicago Bears 23-14 to open their season. Brock Osweiler threw for 231 yards and two touchdowns in his Houston debut and found a big, new target in rookie Will Fuller. Fuller had five catches for 107 yards and a touchdown but was targeted 11 times which was more than DeAndre Hopkins. Lamar Miller had 106 rushing yards in his Texans debut and looks like a different running back than the one who was in Miami. It will be very important for Houston to get off to a fast start at home in this one and then control the Chiefs’ offense.
