The Sweden women’s Olympic soccer team shocked the world with a huge upset of the USA on Friday, August 12. They met in the quarterfinals, and Sweden pulled out a 4-3 win in penalty kicks after the match was tied at 1-1.
Stina Blackstenius (61′) of Sweden and Alex Morgan (77′) of the USA were the goal scorers, and Lisa Dahlkvist was the hero. The midfielder hit the game-winning penalty kick to send Sweden to their first-ever Olympic semifinals.

Sweden’s win kept the U.S. from advancing to the semifinals for their first time in major tournament history. After the game, Hope Solo was understandably upset and dropped this hot fire take to the media.
