Federal investigators and a bomb squad have sealed off the area around a tractor trailer at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station after it alerted for a possible explosive device inside.
Cpl. Jay Martinez, spokesman for the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, said:
“It’s still in progress. There was a truck there that seems to be suspicious.”
According to Florida Today, the incident was first reported about 8:45 a.m. Thursday at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station’s building 1061 on the base. The security alert came just minutes after the launch of the Atlas V rocket. Several police dogs and agents with the FBI were also at the site.
No further information is available at this time.
