WATCH: UFC 198 — Miocic KOs Werdum In First Round [VIDEO]

Miocic vs Werdum KO Video

UFC 198 was held on May 14 at the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil — and it was another very fast bout, with Stipe Miocic taking out Fabricio Werdum in the first round to become the new UFC champion. That was kind of a shock, too. A lot of MMA experts had gone on about Werdum being on the path to becoming the greatest heavyweight champion in UFC history.

Instead, Miocic showed some impressive patience in the ring and came in quick with a KO punch after what seemed a few ineffectual shots. The new champion still seemed even more surprised than the crowd. Nobody was expecting this to go as quickly as a Ronda Rousey bout (with her winning or losing).

This was a big day for Cleveland, too. That fine city hasn’t had a champion in the world of sports for over 50 years. Miocic — who stayed in shape while working as afirefighter and paramedic in his native Ohio — sure deserves a ticker-tape parade.

Anyway, here’s how it all happened in about 12 seconds. We guess that was money well spent by some folks to see the historical moment. Especially if a fan flew in from Cleveland. They saw the city get a champion, and also woke up in Brazil the next day…
