People on the web (ourselves included) love to talk about Drake–he’s just someone who’s always on people’s radar. So it makes complete sense that Drake memes are something you can’t avoid on Instagram and Twitter.
The Drake memes started a little while back when it became known that Drake was a little softer (i.e. emotional when it came to ex-girlfriends and current lovers) than the rest of the people in the rap game. For a bit it, was all “Drake the kind of guy to…” in a way that the Ryan Gosling “Hey Girl” memes existed.
Then the next step came after Drake released his surprise album If You’re Reading This Its Too Late. People started making their own cover albums like “If You’re Reading This You Can Read” and “If You’re Reading This Check My Soundcloud.”
But easily the biggest moment for Drake memes was after the release of the music video for “Hotline Bling.” Not only was Hotline Bling a hot song, the unique minimalist music video featuring strange dance moves from Drake stemmed a ton of hilarious memes.
