We Are… Ready For Penn State’s Blue and White Weekend

Penn State Blue and White Weekend

At Penn State this weekend, football comes back for the spring semester just for a single day. It’s Happy Valley’s blue and white weekend where the football team splits into two to give one last hoorah before the semester comes to a close. The infamous, dignity-lowering frat tailgates come back, the weather is warm, and a whole lot of beer is involved.

Now, I don’t know much about football, but I have a damn good feeling about tomorrow. The unfortunate part about blue and white weekend is that everyone tailgate’s so hard that no one ever actually makes it to the football game, but I am determined, DETERMINED, to make an appearance at my first blue and white game. However, blue and white weekend is more than just football. All of the students and alumni come back to embrace the Happy Valley community, the weekend has drawn in 50,000 fans. Hotels sell out, restaurants book up, it’s good for local businesses, but it’s also a popular time to give back. The Student Book Store downtown chose this weekend for their wounded warrior fundraiser. There is also a Family Fun Zone in Holuba Hall, the Fan Festival on Curtain Road, and the player autograph session, and Luke Bryan is performing tonight, April 15th, in the Bryce Jordan Center, so families have tons of fun events to attend.

For me, however, I’m just going to continue to focus on making it to the game.
