Lions vs. Eagles: What Time, TV Channel & Preview

It is a Thanksgiving tradition for football to be played in Detroit. That tradition continues this season as the 3-7 Lions host the 4-6 Philadelphia Eagles to open the Turkey Day marathon of games. Both teams may be close to being out of playoff contention but this has the potential of being one of the highest-scoring games around the NFL for the entire week.

Detroit has won two straight games including an 18-13 win over the Raiders last week. Matthew Stafford has been inconsistent but has thrown for 2,607 yards for the season to go with 15 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Calvin Johnson is still the best receiver on the field for the Lions with his 59 catches for 828 yards and three touchdowns. The run game has been a challenge all season long but Ameer Abdullah has 284 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground. Things appear to be turning around for the Lions in recent weeks.

Philadelphia has lost three of their last four games including a 45-17 loss at home to the Buccaneers last week. Sam Bradford is likely out for the Eagles which would leave the quarterback responsibilities to Mark Sanchez, who has thrown for 417 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions on the year. DeMarco Murray has rushed for 515 yards and four touchdowns in his first season with the Eagles while Jordan Matthews is leading the pass game with 55 catches for 565 yards and two touchdowns. Philadelphia is just one game back in the NFC East and needs this win badly.
