Miss COED 2016 Contestants Thank Past And Present Armed Forces On Veteran’s Day

Voting for Miss COED 2016 is well underway, but a few of  these contestants took the time to pay their respects towards those who have served or are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. In fact, many even know someone personally. Below are their stories:

1. Niki Kafashzadeh, Howard University

I want to take this opportunity to thank my wonderful grandpa for his heroic efforts. He did the most unselfish thing anyone can do by joining the army. He fought during World War II and worked with artillery. He is the man sitting inside of the car in the passenger side. He was very young when he joined the army with his brothers. He wanted to fight for freedom and fight for what he believed to be right. I want to thank him for what he did by putting his life on the line for his country. Veterans Day is not just a day we thank those who have fought, but a day we should thank those currently fighting overseas. Thank you to all the men and women who risk their lives to protect the freedom of others. You can never be thanked enough for all you have sacrificed.
