The Baylor Bears have big plans for what they want to be doing on New Year’s Eve. Their plan is simple is being in the playoff and having a chance at the national title with a semifinal date to end the calendar year. Baylor, who was snubbed for the college football playoff last year, is No. 2 in the country and is undefeated at 7-0. The Bears will look for their eighth straight win Thursday night as they hit the road to face the Kansas State Wildcats. Kansas State comes in with a 3-4 record for the season.
Baylor has had some time to recover from the loss of quarterback Seth Russell for the season and it will fall on the shoulders of Jarrett Stidham now to carry the Bears the rest of the way. Stidham is 24-for-28 this season for 331 yards and six touchdowns. He will be looking the way of Corey Coleman a lot in the pass game with his 47 catches for 962 yards and 18 touchdowns. Baylor isn’t just about throwing the football. Shock Linwood has 974 rushing yards and nine touchdowns this season for a very balanced Bears attack.
Kansas State has lost four straight games including a 23-9 loss at Texas on October 24. Their defense has a real challenge of their hands slowing down a team that is averaging 61.1 points and 686.1 yards per game. Joe Hubener has to play well to win a potential shootout. He had 963 passing yards, five touchdowns and five interceptions this season. Deante Burton is the team’s big play receiver with 20 catches for 261 yards and two touchdowns. The run game is about Charles Jones, who has 302 yards on the ground and three touchdowns.
