TCU vs. West Virginia: What Time, TV Channel & Preview

Fans of the TCU Horned Frogs have been hoping for their team to get a chance at the college football playoff after being passed over last season for the final four. The 5th-ranked Horned Frogs will take their 7-0 record and 4-0 mark in the Big 12 Conference this season into a Thursday night affair against the West Virginia Mountaineers trying to remain undefeated and in the discussion for New Year’s Eve and the playoff semifinals. West Virginia is 3-3 overall this season and 0-3 in the conference.

Both teams have had off since October 17 and TCU is coming off a 45-21 win at Iowa State. Trevone Boykin has thrown for 2,539 yards and 25 touchdowns this season through just seven games and could approach the 5,000-yard mark before season’s end. Boykin has found Josh Doctson a ton this season with 60 catches for 1,067 yards and 12 touchdowns. TCU isn’t just about the pass game though as Aaron Green has rushed for 632 yards and eight touchdowns. It’s going to be a challenge for West Virginia without any doubt to keep TCU off the scoreboard in a big way.

West Virginia will be playing their fourth straight ranked opponent in the conference and lost 62-38 to Baylor in their last game. Skyler Howard has thrown for 1,566 yards and 15 touchdowns this season as the Mountaineers are averaging over 36 points a game. Shelton Gibson has 23 catches but those receptions have gone for 540 yards and six touchdowns. Wendell Smallwood has 101 carries for 678 yards and five touchdowns rushing to lead West Virginia. It will boil down to whether or not the Mountaineers can score enough points to keep up.
