The 2015 Emmys are going to be the biggest night of television on Sunday. So make sure you know the date, time and what channels you can watch TV’s most glamorous evening on.
The catch is that there are actually two different ceremonies, hosted by different people. So what constitutes a “Primetime Emmy” vs a “Daytime Emmy?” Great question. Let’s look to Wikipedia:
“Among the Primetime Emmy Award rules, a show must originally air on American television during the eligibility period between June 1 and May 31. In order to be considered anational primetime show, the program must air between 6:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m., and to at least 50 percent of the country. A show that enters into the Primetime Emmy Awards cannot also be entered into the Daytime Emmy Awards or any other national Emmy competition.”
So now that you know the difference, chances are that you’re probably going to want to skip the Daytime Emmys unless you’re a fan of soap operas or children’s progamming.
