Google has updated its logo in the wake of the move to Alphabet as a parent company. It’s not a big change, but they’ve altered the font (serif to a sans serif) and moved the spacing of the letter around. We actually like it. It’s not going to give anyone chills or anything, but it’s certainly still friendly and unconfrontational–which is exactly what a company that’s trying to take over your lives wants.
Here’s the announcement from the tech overlords themselves:
Google has changed a lot over the past 17 years—from the range of our products to the evolution of their look and feel. And today we’re changing things up once again.
The new Google logo is similar to that of Google’s new parent company. The original designer said that she wanted the logo look ‘Almost Non-Designed’. It also celebrated today’s Google doodle. The logo marks the biggest departure since Google dropped the exclamation point in 1999.
