VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED

The news team from WDBJ-TV was interviewing a woman at the Bridgewater Plaza when a man, whose figure can be seen towards the end of the video, approached and began shooting. The video shows a reporter screaming and running away before the camera falls to the ground.

Once the camera is on the ground, viewers can see what appears to be the gunman approaching the news crew and the woman they were interviewing, while continued fire is heard in the background. The live broadcast was then cut back to the station, showing the shocked reaction of a confused newsroom anchor.

WDBJ said on Facebook, “Law enforcement is on scene at Bridgewater Plaza in Moneta. The incident involves a WDBJ7 crew. We don’t have any additional details.”

The shooter is not currently in custody, and local schools in the area have been locked down while police actively search for the suspect.
