A few years ago, Guillermo Del Toro lost the chance to create his own horror video game thanks to THQ’s financial struggles and ultimate bankruptcy. Since then, he’s been hard at work on a new sequel to the Silent Hill series called Silent Hills and if the trailer is just like the game, then it’s bound to be one of the most f***ed up video games ever to hit a store shelf.
The trailer released earlier today at the Tokyo Game Show doesn’t reveal much in terms of story. Instead, it really does a good job of setting the creepy mood by showing off some of the disturbing images that players can expect when they pick up a copy of the game and feed it into their consoles. The teaser trailer runs the gamut of nightmare images including darkened hallways, decapitated heads, spiny worms crawling out of unexpected places, giant slug monsters feeding off human brains and doors that open and close at will. If you’re not dreaming about this kind of stuff already, you will after you’re done watching the trailer. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. We’ve very glad to see that Guillermo Del Toro’s lousy experience with THQ killing his game didn’t deter him from trying to make another one. His screwed up, twisted visions deserve to be in a video game and the Silent Hill series is a perfect fit for him.
